The Ridgely Church History

The Ridgely Church existed before1900. Some members left in 1909 to form the Denton Church of the Brethren.

An undated document, written by Jerry Fletcher, that said the Church of the Brethren’s denomination began around 1708 in war-torn Germany, where the Brethren’s religious beliefs led to difficulties with the government. The principal group migrated to Holland and later, in 1729, to Pennsylvania.

The first Church of the Brethren on the Eastern Shore was established in Easton in 1875, and later in Ridgely in 1884.
